Ciara Madsen
Pre-Accredited Psychotherapist
I am a pre-accredited psychotherapist with a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy with extensive experience supporting adults experiencing anxiety, panic, overthinking, and emotional overwhelm.
Many of the people I work with feel caught in repetitive thought loops, constant mental checking, or high levels of anxiety and want practical tools to regain a sense of control, alongside a deeper understanding of why these patterns persist. My approach offers both: structured, CBT-informed tools to help reduce anxiety and OCD-like symptoms, alongside humanistic and psychodynamic therapy to explore the underlying emotional patterns that maintain them.
Ciara has worked with clients who are living with general anxiety, relationship anxiety, panic attacks and social anxiety. Ciara charges €60 per session for in online therapy.

Ciara Madsen – Pre-Accredited Psychotherapist
I work in an integrative way, using CBT as a structured and stabilising foundation, particularly helpful for anxiety and OCD-like symptoms, while also drawing on humanistic and psychodynamic therapy to explore deeper emotional themes.
This includes working with:
- Negative automatic thoughts and anxiety-driven thinking
- Intrusive thoughts, mental checking, rumination, and reassurance-seeking
- Unhelpful thought patterns and cognitive distortions
- Fear-based interpretations that keep anxiety and obsessive loops going
Together, we focus on understanding how these thought processes function, learning how
to respond differently to them, and reducing their emotional impact.
Alongside this structured work, we also explore:
- How these patterns may have developed over time
- The emotional and relational contexts that contribute to ongoing anxiety
- Underlying fears, attachment dynamics, or experiences that make certain thoughts
feel so compelling
This blended approach helps reduce immediate distress while also supporting longer-term emotional change, rather than simply managing symptoms.
What I Can Help With
I work with clients experiencing:
- Generalised anxiety and persistent worry.
- Panic symptoms and fear of anxiety itself
- OCD-like symptoms (including intrusive thoughts, mental checking, rumination, and reassurance-seeking)
- Self-critical, perfectionistic, or “what if?” thinking
- Emotional overwhelm, burnout, and stress
- Relationship-related anxiety and people-pleasing patterns
Together we will work with your lived experience, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
